The United Methodist Church has an open communion.  All are invited to join in the celebration of God’s love!

THIS WEEKEND IS NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR COLLECTION
A special collection is taken the first weekend of every month.  Our Neighbor Helping Neighbor Fund is used to meet our ongoing commitment to KAMA of $333.00 per month.   We only have funds to pay our pledge through August.   Please consider a gift to NHN to help us keep our commitment.

CRISIS IN THE HORN OF AFRICA
Whenever there is a humanitarian crisis in the word our church is responding through UMCOR.  Right now there is crisis in the Horn of Africa.  Today’s drought is the worst the region has seen in half a century and has left an estimated 11 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. It has provoked acute malnutrition and death, especially among children and other vulnerable populations. “UMCOR is working with our partners to act as quickly and as comprehensively as possible,” Crutchfield said. “While we do, we ask for your continued prayers and support for those affected by this crisis.”  Your help is urgently needed. COMPANY IS COMING
Pancake helpers needed for August 10-13 at the Armory.   Our church staffs the breakfast as a joint project with the chamber for the Sprint Car Nationals.  See the signup sheets in the main entrance on the table.   Please park in the back parking lot of the Armory.  Call Kay Jensen with questions at 641-842-5325.

You are invited to the Columbia UMC on Sunday, August 21 at 10:30 a.m. to listen to Steve McBride sing with accompaniment by Geoff Shultz.  Following the musical worship service, you are invited to a grilled brunch at the Columbia Community Center beginning at 11:30 a.m.  All are welcome!
FARMERS MARKET
FUMC is participating in the local farmers market on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.   Please consider donating excess garden produce and plants as well as volunteering to help staff the booth on Saturday mornings.   This is an important outreach for our church.  Please contact the church office if you can help.

We are family friendly with a well equipped nursery, a full play room, and bathroom for your use.  Please feel free to use our family oriented nursery.   These areas are sound proof from the sanctuary, but you can turn on the speakers and hear the service if you would like.  Large print bulletins are available for the 8:30 service.
