FOOD DONATION
The second weekend of the month is food donation weekend.    Please be a part of this wonderful ministry by dropping off your canned goods and/or other nonperishable items in the basket in the Narthex.   Any Sunday we will accept donations, but the second weekend of the month is a special emphasis.

You are cordially invited to an open house celebrating the 90th birthday of Lela Todd on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Activity Room at West Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.   If you are unable to attend, cards may be sent to Lela at:  West Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center, 1904 W. Thank you for the birthday cards.  What a nice surprise.   They arrived on my birthday.  I am doing well.   I had a culture shock when I arrived back home, but now it’s okay thanks to my family.   Thank you again to my wonderful church family for your love and support.

CRISIS IN THE HORN OF AFRICA  Right now there is crisis in the Horn of Africa.  Today’s drought is the worst the region has seen in half a century and has left an estimated 11 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. YOU’RE INVITED!                  You are invited to the Columbia UMC on Sunday, August 21 at 10:30 a.m. to listen to Steve McBride sing with accompaniment by Geoff Shultz.  Following the musical worship service, you are invited to a grilled brunch at the Columbia Community Center beginning at 11:30 a.m.  All are welcome!

FARMERS MARKET
FUMC is participating in the local farmers market on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.   Please consider donating excess garden produce and plants as well as volunteering to help staff the booth on Saturday mornings.   This is an important outreach for our church.  Please contact the church office if you can help.

We are family friendly with a well equipped nursery, a full play room, and bathroom for your use.  Please feel free to use our family oriented nursery.   These areas are sound proof from the sanctuary, but you can turn on the speakers and hear the service if you would like.  Large print bulletins are available for the 8:30 service.
