CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Phyllis Force on the birth of her new great grandson. 

MEALS ON WHEELS
Volunteers are needed for one route on Oct. 4th and Oct. 11th as well as several openings still available the week of Oct. 15-19th.  Signup sheets for volunteers to deliver the meals are located on the table in the main entry way of the church.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
In an effort to make FUMC Youth Group a weekly event for the youth of FUMC, we are looking for volunteers that would be willing to give of their time and talents on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 pm once per month.  If God moves your heart to help in the faith development of our youth, please call Katie or Brian Bishop at 828-6933. 

FALL YOUTH GROUP KICKOFF
After a summer break we are ready to kick off a new year of FUMC Youth Group! All youth in 7th through 12th grades are invited to join us on Sunday, October 14 from 4 to 6 pm at the Marion County Park (shelter by the covered bridge) as we kick of a new year of youth group.

FUN N FITNESS IS RETURNING!  
Join us on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in East Fellowship Hall, beginning October 3rd.   Men and women 55+ can enjoy 1 hour of fellowship, short devotions, and exercises to increase flexibility and balance.   For questions call Sherry Haney or Bonnie Crook. 

SALAD LUNCHEON WITH GUEST SPEAKER
The women of the FUMC are invited to a Salad Luncheon at the First Presbyterian Church on Sat., Oct. 13.  The guest speaker is Ann Fields, President of William Penn University in Oskaloosa.  She will be speaking on the topic of "Rwandan Women Struggling to Survive".  We need to RSVP by Mon., Oct. 8.  Please let Pat Haning (842-27900) know before Oct. 8 if you are planning to attend.

HEIFER PROJECT
Heifer’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth.   By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, we empower them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self reliance and hope.   A special collection is taken the fourth weekend of every month.

MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERY

FUMC is scheduled to deliver Senior Nutrition/Meals on Wheels Sept. 24th-Oct. 19th.   Signup sheets for volunteers to deliver the meals are located on the table in the main entry way of the church. Thank you for your service in this valuable ministry.

POTLUCK/MISSIONARY PRESENTATION
On Tuesday, Sept 25th at 6:00 p.m. in WFH there were will be a potluck with a short presentation by Larry and Jane Kies on their work at Africa University.   Larry teaches agriculture at the University and Jane teaches English. They return to the US every 4 years to visit the churches that have a covenant with them.  First UMC used to have a covenant with them and we are considering renewing our covenant.  Please join in welcoming them.

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The nursery is one of the places in church where volunteers serve in two ministries at once. First to the children, and second to the parents who are able to focus their attention on worship and/or Sunday school with confidence their child is in excellent care.  Volunteers are needed to staff the nursery during Sunday first service through second services for the remainder of 2012.   A sign-up sheet is in the Narthex.  Your service is an important act of hospitality of support.
