PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Leader:   Let us confess our sins before God and one another.
People:  Most merciful God, we confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and follow in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
(Silence is observed for personal reflection and prayer)

assurance of pardon
Leader:  Beloved, Isaiah says, "Have you not heard? The LORD is the
everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable." The God who created you and knows you by name sent his only Son to redeem you, and not to condemn. In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Alleluia! Amen.
