THIS WEEKEND

HEIFER PROJECT COLLECTION
Heifer’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth.   By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, we empower them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self reliance and hope.   A special collection is taken the fourth weekend of every month.

NEW THIS WEEK!

RESPONDING TO THE FLOODING IN WESTERN IOWA
Once again we are dealing with flooding around the state.  You might be asking yourself what can I do?   Cash is the single best way to help disaster survivors.   Cash doesn’t need to be sorted, stored, and distributed, and it allows the donation to be given towards the needs that most urgently need addressing.  If you wish to donate, please indicate Advance #223 in the memo of your check to help.

NATIONALS PANCAKE SIGN-UP SHEET
The Nationals pancakes at the armory is asking for our help again.   Sign-up sheets are available on the table in the church entry way.   Call Kay Jensen with any questions at 641-842-5325.

BRIAN HANSON’S 2011 JOYFUL TOUR
Brian Hanson will be in concert at Attica United Methodist church on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.   There will be no admission charge but a love offering will be taken.

JULY METHODIST MEN
The Methodist Men will not be meeting the First Saturday in July.  Instead, we would like to invite all Methodist Men to our pancake breakfast on Saturday, July 9, at 7:00 am, in WFH.   Following breakfast we will be setting up the grounds, tent, and sand pile for “Celebrate the Son” weekend.

CELEBRATE THE SON
Invite your friends and neighbors to join us in their beach attire for the “Celebrate the Son” services on July 10th and at 9:30 am on Sunday for our beach party and kickoff for the SonSurf Beach Bash VBS enrollment period.

THANK YOU
Dear First United Methodist Church, Thank you for the picture frame.  Also, thank you for the great amount of support that you have given me as I have grown up.   Once again thank you for the picture frame.  Sincerely, Timothy Shepherd

Dear First United Methodist Church, I would like to thank you for providing me with this generous scholarship.  It will be useful as I continue my education at the University of Iowa.  I would also like to thank you for the wonderful diploma frame.   I appreciate all the support I have from my church family.   Sincerely, Kaitlyn Meyer
