This Sunday is Communion. The United Methodist Church has an open communion.  All are invited to join in the celebration of God’s love!

NEW THIS WEEK!

ART HILL’S RETIREMENT CELEBRATION

Please help us in celebrating 10 years of dedication to the ministry and First United Methodist Church when we honor Pastor Art Hill at all three of the services on Saturday September 10th and Sunday September 11th.    There will be a love offering gathered for Pastor Hill as well as a celebration on Cinnamon Roll Sunday after the 8:30 service.  All of us at FUMC are blessed to have had a gracious and caring person to oversee the many projects and more importantly people that Pastor Hill has tended to and we wish him many years of happiness as he goes forth onto this next endeavor!

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

The relief organization formerly known as the Knoxville Area Ministerial Alliance is reforming and needs your help.   KAMA’s name has now changed to Neighbors Helping Neighbors.   This organization will continue to help local churches (including FUMC) distribute funds as well as distribute local Salvation Army funds.  A board is already in place but due to the retirement of the longtime office assistant, Phyllis Force, volunteers are needed to keep the office running.  The office’s hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday from 1-3 p.m.  Please contact the church office if you would like to help.

HURRICANE IRENE

Hurricane Irene has caused havoc all along the east coast.   If you would like to make a financial contribution, please indicate advance 901670 in the memo of your check.   100% of your gift will go to this.

THANK YOU
I want to thank Pastor Lane for his visits and prayers, they help.   Also, thanks to the Methodist ladies who gave me the beautiful shawl and prayer square.  They are comforting and much appreciated.   I am doing well, gaining strength each day.  Thank you for everything, Alberta McMulin

Thank you for your words, thoughts, and prayers during our family’s loss of Jim’s Grandpa Bob.  We are blessed to have had an abundance of support during this difficult time.  Jim, Jill, Aidan, and Kalen Findley
