First United Methodist Church is scheduled to deliver meals to home bound & elderly in the Knoxville area through Knoxville Senior Nutrition Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels) from September 20th to October 15th. Each day has four routes and they are currently providing meals to 59 people on a daily basis. It is ideal to have 2 persons per route, but a driver alone would suffice. Be a Good Samaritan to one in need, signup sheets are in the entry way outside the sanctuary west doors at the church. You may also contact the church office via e-mail or phone if you are interested in volunteering to help deliver meals.

As one of our missions, First United Methodist Church helps to support KAMA with a pledge of $4000 per year. This is paid each month from the funds given to our Neighbor Helping Neighbor Mission. Gifts to Neighbor Helping Neighbor this year are not meeting our pledge. Through God’s grace and your support of Neighbor Helping Neighbor, many people are helped as they struggle with job loss, payment of utilities, and many other issues. Please consider a gift to this important mission.

You now have until Friday, September 24, to take advantage of the $45.00 conference registration fee. After that time the rate increases to $60.00 – but even then it is a great bargain: pre-conference ministry sampler, program displays, barbeque banquet, Paul Nixon’s keynote, evening praise featuring our puppet troops, Visual Scriptures, and one of our praise bands, Risen, plus a full day of workshops with lunch – what a deal! Check the website at and join in to discover the next step God intends for each of us in our churches.
