THIS WEEKEND

HEIFER PROJECT  -  Heifer’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth.   By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, we empower them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self reliance and hope.   A special collection is taken the fourth weekend of every month.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION WEEKEND - Offerings are used for ministries within the annual conference.  (See insert)

SUNDAY FROM 9:30 TO 10:30 FAITH FORUM IS HOSTING A PRESENTATION IN WFH BY STEVE HALL ABOUT THE LUDHIANA CHRISTIAN MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL.  Everyone is welcome!

DISCOVERY GROUPS – If you are in a discovery group, please pick up your materials from the church office window ledge this weekend.

NEW THIS WEEK!

THANK YOU REV ART HILL, for your work and service to us and our church! Art has been there to comfort us and there in times of joy, too.  We also note the NEW and interesting format for THE LINK.  It has a current look and faith-building updates. We have worked with both faith and secular newsletters/bulletins and truly appreciate the deadlines and challenges doing this. THANK YOU Heather, Pastor Lane, and the Team who work on it! We attend UM churches with family in  Twin Cities, Ames, and Cedar Falls.   These churches share similar challenges with us. We see that Electronic Giving [EFT] is both catching on elsewhere and  is convenient. We know First Church receives our pledge with regular automatic deductions on 2nd of each month.  Those in their 30’s and under seldom write checks. Our church does compare well to others.  Park and Dr. Susan Woodle Family

MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERY

We still have spots open for the second, third and fourth weeks that FUMC is scheduled to deliver Senior Nutrition/Meals on Wheels September 19th-October 14th.   Signup sheets for volunteers to deliver the meals are located on the table in the main entry way of the church.

MARION COUNTY CARE TRANSPORTATION MISSION
We need drivers to help transport our friends from the Marion County Care Facility to church on Sundays.  They rely on us to be able to attend services each Sunday.  These are wonderful people who truly appreciate the efforts our drivers put forth to get them to church each Sunday.  Please consider being a part of this valued ministry.  To volunteer, please complete the signup sheet located on the table in the main entryway or contact Joel Johnson.

NEXT STEP CONFERENCE
The “Next Step Conference” will be held at Ankeny UMC on October 28 and 29.  Early registration deadline is by September 30 to receive the lowest pricing.  Please contact the church office if you are interested in attending.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Volunteers are needed to staff the nursery during Sunday first service through second services for the months of October.   A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board outside of the nursery.
