- 900… FUMC meals served to local and RAGBRAI guests? They hailed from 22 plus states and Germany. 80% of them came from 4-7PM!
- 1,000…Pieces of PIE in our church’s Youth Room? The aroma was “SWEET” beyond words!
“Thank
you! THANK YOU!” goes to 112 plus volunteers who made this project
possible. ALL un-named and named volunteers are appreciated. Many months, days,
and hours of preparation led to this day.
Proceeds will be
distributed to both FUMC College Endowment Fund and MSPS scholarships and
materials.
Top-of-the-List
Thank YOU’s go to:
- Food TEAM Leaders – Pat Haning, Kay Jensen, and Donna Otto. Their expertise and organization were invaluable.
- Frances Kirkwood and Jenny Dircks carved pies for hours. ALL noodles were homemade!
- Many, many more Food Helpers slaved away, too!
- Larry and RoseAnn did signage, organization of outside welcoming tent, and Food help
- Tim smoothly ran everything building related.
- Trey organized Boy Scout volunteers.
- Katie shepherded MSPS volunteers.
- Mel, Merna, Bonnie, George, helped with tickets and money details.
Numerous guests were
appreciative of our food and PIE. I told
some our goal was to have the best PIE in all of Knoxville. We truly had some
of the best volunteers! First Methodist was blessed with a great day of FUN and
FUND RAISING.
PANCAKES
VOLUNTEERS
Yes, we will do the pancakes at the Armory as we have done
before. Sign-up sheets are available in the Narthex for Wed, August 7
through Sat, Aug 10. This activity provides all of us the opportunity to serve
as an act of hospitality, to be a welcoming presence in the broader community
and a fundraiser with proceeds split between the church and Chamber of
Commerce. Please park behind the Armory
and wear a clean baseball cap. Contact
Kay Jensen if you have questions.
Thank you to all that contributed to the event by monetary
contributions, volunteering in serving through assembling items, and serving at
the event. A special thanks to the
organizing committee Merna, Pat & Bonnie.
150 students were served plus their families with a meal as they
received their supplies. We were able
to bless many families in need as we faithfully responded to our Lord’s
instruction to care for our brothers and sisters in need. Thanks again.
SAVE THE DATE
Join
us on Sunday, September 15 at 9am as the FUMC Youth will be leading the worship
service. They will be sharing testimonies from their Week of Hope in
Colorado. Following the Service the Youth will also share the more fun-side
of the week during Cinnamon Roll Sunday in West Fellowship Hall.
Youth will be kicking off again in September so watch for more
details in next month’s newsletter.
