MEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERY
FUMC is scheduled to deliver Senior Nutrition/Meals on Wheels September 24th -October 19th.   Currently, meals are provided to 59 people on a daily basis.  The need for home delivered meals continues to increase as more people choose to remain in their homes rather than going into a long term care facility.   Each day has four routes and meals are to be picked up at 11:00 a.m. from the Senior Center. Each route takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.  It is ideal to have 2 persons per route, but a driver alone would suffice.  Signup sheets for volunteers to deliver the meals are located on the table in the main entry way of the church. Thank you for your participation in this valuable program.   This important service could not continue without volunteers such as yourself!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The nursery is one of the places in church where volunteers serve in two ministries at once. First to the children, and second to the parents who are able to focus their attention on worship and/or Sunday school with confidence their child is in excellent care.  Volunteers are needed to staff the nursery during Sunday first service through second services for the months of September and October.   A sign-up sheet is in the Narthex.

HAYRIDE/WIENER ROAST
“FUN on the Farm” will begin at 5:30 pm on September 22.  The annual hay ride and wiener roast will be held at 1335 Hayes Dr. north of Knoxville on hwy. 14 then ¾ of a mile east of Udders Steakhouse.  First Church’s FUN Committee (Fellowship Uniting Neighbors) activities are open to all our friends and neighbors in the community and provide opportunities for food, fellowship, and FUN for all ages.  Invite your friends and bring the grandkids.  If possible bring a covered dish to share.

OSKALOOSA GUEST DAY

THANK YOU
Dear Heather, Folmer, and Pastor Lane,
Thank you so much for touching the life of one of our patients by delivering a bed, dresser, and bed linens to his apartment.  You helped during a very difficult time and made me more at ease about discharging him from the hospital.  The love of Christ was shown through your actions for a stranger.  Thank you.  Sincerely, Pat Whitlatch

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the generous scholarship you gave me to continue my education at AIB College of Business.   All the little bit helps and it’s people like you that really make a difference.  I will be graduating in February.   Thanks again!  Ashley Larson

“OFFER THEM CHRIST”
At the August board meeting, Pastor Lane expressed his appreciation for the support from the church with the many prayers, cards, and gifts of condolences on the passing of his father.  To show his gratitude, he presented First United Methodist Church with a Kenneth Wyatt painting entitled “Offer Them Christ” of John Wesley with Thomas Coke, Richard Whatcoat, and Thomas Vasey as they were about to sail to America to establish the first independent Methodist Church.   It depicts Wesley giving his final blessings and instructions to Coke:  “Offer Them Christ”.  The scriptural mandate to “Go there fore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19) is a clear directive from Jesus to his followers…”Offer Them Christ”.  Look for the picture hanging in the church soon.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Folmer Petersen will be retiring from his position at the church this fall.   If you are interested in filling this position, please contact the church office.
