NEW THIS WEEK!
PEACE WITH JUSTICE
Peace with Justice offering is the first Saturday and Sunday after Pentecost, supports peace with justice ministries through the General Board of Church and Society and the annual conferences. Skyline Urban Ministries in Oklahoma offers the Peace Challenge Camp to teach preteens how to make peace with themselves and others. They learn “what Jesus said and did so they know they have options for living a more happy and peaceful life,” says the director. This special weekend is in place to make clear the calling of the church as people of God, and to give people the opportunity to contribute offerings to this special program.
TRINITY SUNDAY
The Sunday after Pentecost is a celebration of the Trinity: one God in three persons. The Nicene Creed UMH 880 is the classical statement of the doctrine of the Trinity. The Nicene Creed was adopted in the city of Nicaea by the first ecumenical council, which met there in the year 325.
TUCK POINTING
The Trustees would like to thank Agnes Wilson for providing over $130,000 of undesignated estate funds to the First United Methodist Church. The Trustees have used the funds to completely tuck point First Church and the education wing. We would have had to have a major fund drive to raise that much money to complete the necessary repairs to the exterior structure of the church. It is nice to have undesignated estate funds on hand to use for maintenance and to cover the costs of major building repairs. Unfortunately, this will delete the funds in our present building maintenance and improvements account. Praise be to God for touching the hearts of our members as they provide for His church.
