THIS WEEKEND

COMMUNION - The United Methodist Church has an open communion.  All are invited to join in the celebration of God’s love!

NEIGHBOR HELPING NEIGHBOR (NHH) - A special collection is taken the first weekend of every month.  These funds go through the Neighbor Helping Neighbor office to help community needs.   Please mark your check memo and/or envelope to identify this purpose to contribute.

NEW THIS WEEK!

PANCAKE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Yes, we will do the pancakes at the Armory as we have done before.  Sign-up sheets are available in the Narthex for Wed, August 7 through Sat, Aug 10. This activity provides all of us the opportunity to serve as an act of hospitality, to be a welcoming presence in the broader community and a fundraiser with proceeds split between the church and Chamber of Commerce.   Please park behind the Armory and wear a clean baseball cap.   Contact Kay Jensen if you have questions.

BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT A GREAT SUCCESS!!
Thank you to all that contributed to the event by monetary contributions, volunteering in serving through assembling items, and serving at the event.  A special thanks to the organizing committee Merna, Pat & Bonnie.  150 students were served plus their families with a meal as they received their supplies.   We were able to bless many families in need as we faithfully responded to our Lord’s instruction to care for our brothers and sisters in need.  Thanks again.

THANK YOU
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!  A huge thank you to everyone that helped make FIESTA a success!!  We had right at 60 kids that enjoyed a fun filled week of learning about Jesus’ love. Without all of your support the week would not have been possible!

IMAGINE NO MALARIA

As the mission offering of VBS, the kids did a great job of raising enough funds to purchase 38 nets by collecting $381.38.  GREAT JOB KIDS!!!  The church’s challenge to match their efforts is a little short…to date we have only received $290.00.   Help us make this goal so we can double the blessing!

RAGBRAI THANK YOU
A big thank you to our organizing committee (Park, Donna, Kay & Pat) and everyone that helped with our RAGBRAI dinner!  We heard many compliments from our guests.  We had 900 meals served and a sellout of all of the food.  We couldn’t have done it without all the donations and volunteers, including setup, tear down, and servers.  Thanks again to all who contributed!   What a great success!

RAGRBRAI VOLUNTEERS UPDATE
Please check the RABRAI worksheet at the window of the church office to see if the time schedule for you is correct.  Know that when working, sandals cannot be worn and shirts must have sleeves.  We will furnish hairnets and plastic gloves.  Also, check the job assigned.  If it is something that you don’t feel you can do, please let Kay Jensen, Dona Otto, or Pat Haning know so that it can be changed before that day.  Some have asked if they can come during the day even though they have not signed up and that is fine as we will have tasks occur that we can fit you in to.  We have had a good response for pie donations and should have plenty.  Thanks to everyone for your willingness to help and contribute in all the ways that will make this day a success.
